She is an applied economist, working with large data sets and new econometric techniques. Her main research fields are open-economy macroeconomics and international finance. She studies an array of topics, such as exchange rate regimes, currency crises, international capital flows, with a focus on emerging market economies and Turkey.
She has also been working with the Turkish Household Budget Survey Data analyzing the consumption-savings behavior in Turkey. She is also interested in conspicuous consumption and peer effects, and their aggregate impact on growth and happiness. Her most recent work is on the relationship between macro prudential policies, capital flows and credit growth in advanced and emerging economies.
Prior to obtaining her PhD, she worked for several years in the industry in leading companies, including Aselsan as a Business Development engineer and in the USA as an industrial engineer. She had research associate positions at the University of Guelph and University of California Santa Cruz. Her research is published in high ranking journals like the Journal of International Money and Finance, Research in International Business and Finance, International Review of Economic and Finance. She is fluent in English and German.
