Biography
My interests and studies include contemporary British theater, twentieth century theater, medical humanities, and literary translation. Language and literature are constantly changing and developing due to their nature. Therefore, literary studies constantly benefit from developing fields and theories. Existing or new theories found in the fields such as Psychology, Sociology, or Medicine can directly be used in the analysis of literary works. Considering this, I anticipate that the interdisciplinary character of my fields of study will increase in the next 10 years, and that more studies will be conducted, especially in the field of medical humanities. I am also engaged with literary translation and have produced notable works especially from English to Turkish, among which my translation of George Orwell s Animal Farm (as Hayvan Çiftliği) and Nineteen Eighty-Four (as Bin Dokuz Yüz Seksen Dört), James Joyce’s Dubliners (as Dublinliler) and Seamus Heaney’s North (as Kuzey) – the first of any full-length Heaney translation to Turkish – can be given as examples.
