Publisher: | Springer | Abstract: | A search for a hypothetical heavy scalar particle, X, decaying into a singlet scalar particle, S, and a Standard Model Higgs boson, H, using 140 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at the centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. The explored mass range is 300 <= m(X) <= 1000 GeV and 170 <= m(S) <= 500 GeV. The signature of this search is one or two leptons (e or mu) from the decay of vector bosons originating from the S particle, S -> (WW -/+)-W-+/-/ZZ, and two photons from the Higgs boson decay, H -> gamma gamma. No significant excess is observed above the expected Standard Model background. The observed (expected) upper limits at the 95% confidence level on the cross- section for gg -> X -> SH, assuming the same S -> WW/ZZ branching ratios as for a SM-like heavy Higgs boson, are between 530 (800) fb and 120 (170) fb. | Description: | Hidaoui, Mourad/0000-0003-2025-6495; Soto, Orlando/0000-0002-8613-0310; Follega, Francesco Maria/0000-0003-2317-9560; Herrmann, Linda/0000-0002-1857-6310; Gwilliam, Carl/0000-0002-9401-5304; Fiorini, Luca/0000-0002-5070-2735; Mitsou, Vasiliki A./0000-0002-1533-8886; Zaid, Estifa'A/0009-0008-3614-0562; Etzion, Erez/0000-0001-6871-7794; Mckee, Shawn/0000-0002-4551-4502; Staszewski, Rafal/0000-0001-7708-9259; Mohamed Farook, Mohamed Hijas/0000-0002-2082-8134; Potti, Harish/0000-0002-0800-9902; Oh, Alexander/0000-0001-9025-0422; /0000-0001-5765-1750; De La Torre Perez, Hector/0000-0002-4516-5269; Riu, Imma/0000-0002-3742-4582; Teixeira-Dias, Pedro/0000-0001-9977-3836; Butterworth, Jonathan/0000-0002-5905-5394; Salzburger, Andreas/0000-0001-6004-3510; Corchia, Federico Andrea Guillaume/0000-0002-1788-3204; Ahmadov, Faig/0000-0003-3644-540X; Khwaira, Yahya/0000-0001-8538-1647; Lyubushkin, Vladimir/0000-0003-0136-233X; Konstantinidis, Nikolaos/0000-0002-4140-6360; Pintucci, Laura/0000-0001-9842-9830; Ali, Hafiz Muhammad/0000-0002-9885-5933; Gonnella, Francesco/0000-0003-0885-1654; Mungo, Davide Pietro/0000-0002-2567-7857; Nellist, Clara/0000-0002-5171-8579; Haley, Joseph/0000-0002-6938-7405; Lagouri, Theodota/0000-0001-7509-7765; Mlinarevic, Marin/0000-0003-3587-646X; Stanislaus, Beojan/0000-0001-9007-7658 | URI: | https://doi.org/10.1007/JHEP10(2024)104 | ISSN: | 1029-8479 |
