Publisher: | Wiley | Abstract: | This chapter focuses on the research capabilities of architectural design and studio. Besides the architectural object, the architectural design process has many other actual and intellectual outcomes and explorations. With the main focus on the architectural design studio, the chapter searches designerly ways of mapping and monitoring actual and intellectual outcomes and wasted explorations of the design process. In the architectural design studio, mapping and monitoring exercises enable students to be aware of their own thinking, thus providing a powerful thinking ground for their future design practices and consolidating both the designer identity and studio character. The chapter explores the layers that constitute architectural design and studio environment. It develops an argument through the knowledge of the architectural design experiment and pedagogy of the Final Architectural Design Studio at the TOBB University of Economics and Technology. © ISTE Ltd 2020. | URI: | https://doi.org/10.1002/9781119751427.ch10 https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11851/12552 |
