Türkiye İslam Tarihçiliğine Eleştirel Bir Yaklaşım Tecrübesi Ve Yeni Bir Tarih Yazımı Teklif Taslağı

Abstract

In the article below, some observations and views of ours are expressed on the mentality, approach and methodology problems of Islamic historiography in Turkey. The argument of the article is that the Islamic historiography in Turkey is not on the level of a reference point within the global Islamic historiography. There is no doubt that such a condition is both connected with the existing Turkish historiography and some fundamental problems of the Islamic historical writing in Turkey. These fundamental problems are examined under two main titles in detail in the article: 1. Problems related to the mentality 2. Methodological problems. The problems related to the mentality are not peculiar to the Islamic historiography, on the contrary they are valid for all the areas of the historical writing in Turkey, as we have tried to stress it on various grounds for various occasions. To express briefly, historical writing in Turkey is a historiography which is Turkish-centered, romantic, defensive and sanctifying in almost all areas. Pre-Islamic Turkish history is sacred for some Turkish historians, while Islamic history is sacred for some others. The same approach is valid Ottoman history, history of the National Struggle period, or history of the Early Republican period, all being considered as areas which cannot be criticized. This article argues that Turkish historiography - and thereby Islamic historiography in Turkey - will not able to gain the character of a reference historiography in a global extent so long as it does not get rid of these faults.

Aşağıdaki makalede Türkiye İslam tarihçiliğinin başlıca ne gibi zihniyet, yaklaşım ve yöntem problemlerine sahip olduğu konusunda bazı kişisel gözlemlerimiz ve fikirlerimiz ifade edilmiştir. Makalenin sorunsalı Türkiye İslam tarihçiliğinin Dünya İslam tarihçiliği içindeki yerinin henüz referans bir tarihçilik seviyesinde olmadığıdır. Şüphesiz bu durum esas itibariyle bir yanıyla hali hazırdaki Türkiye tarihçiliği ile bağlantılı olmakla beraber, bir yanıyla da bizatihi Türkiye İslam tarihçiliğindeki bazı temel problemlerle ilgili bulunmaktadır. Makalede bu problemler 1- Zihniyet problemleri 2- Metodoloji problemleri olmak üzere iki ana başlık altında detayları ile incelenmiştir. Zihniyet problemi sade İslam Tarihçiliği için değil, –daha önce değişik vesilelerle ve değişik yerlerde vurgulamaya çalıştığımız üzere- genelde Türkiye tarihçiliğinin bütün alanlarına yansıyan bir problemdir. Kısaca vurgulamak gerekirse, Türkiye tarihçiliği hemen her alanda Türk-merkezci bir tarihçiliktir, duygusaldır, savunmacıdır ve kutsallaştırıcıdır. Birilerine göre İslam öncesi Türk tarihi, bir diğerlerine göre İslam tarihi, başka birilerine göre Osmanlı tarihi ve bir başka kesime göre ise Millî Mücadele ve Erken Cumhuriyet dönemi tarihi kutsaldır, asla eleştirilemez. Makale Türkiye tarihçiliğinin, dolayısıyla Türkiye İslam tarihçiliğinin bu zaaflarından kurtulmadığı sürece evrensel boyutta referans bir tarihçilik niteliğini kazanamayacağı tezini savunmaktadır.
