dc.description.abstractNano-photomc wire waveguides play an important role on the dense integrated photonic circuits. T-shaped version of the nanophotomc wires are commonly used for the power split and for the optical-interconnection. However, due to sharp transitions at the junction, the wave cannot be confined well and huge bending losses occur at the junction area. The localization of PC around the junction area with a careful engineering design ensures to reduce the bending losses and increase the transmission efficiency from 18% up to 49% for each arm. These findings may lead to widespread implementations of such T-junctions in future high density integrated photonics. © 2011 IEEE.en_US
