Title: Türkiye’deki Mülteci Kamplarında Tasarım Kriterleri: Adana Sarıçam Konaklama Merkezi
Çalışmanın amacı ülkemizde bulunan yerleşkelerdeki mevcut durumu ortaya koyarak, kamp tasarımında standartların geliştirilmesine yardımcı olmak adına kaynak oluşturmaktır.; The Issue of refugee and sheltering is a multi-layered, interdisciplinary study area that does not have a universal factual truth. Emergency situations around the world brought post-disaster shelters to the fore. Ensuring accommodation in temporary shelters arising from necessity should be one of the main study fields of Interior Architecture discipline. Because of the ongoing wave of immigrations since 2011, refugee camps and post-disaster shelters have become priority for Turkey. In this context, Adana Sarıçam Accommodation Center, which has the largest number of refugees and is the biggest camp in our country, has been evaluated according to the international standards. The purpose of the study is to create a resource to help develop standards in camp design by revealing the current situation in the centers in our country.2021-01-01T00:00:00ZEffect on Users of the Seating Element Types in Cafes/Restaurants

Abstract: In this study, the impact of different seating unit types on subjects' perceptional evaluation of cafe/restaurant environments has been examined. The scopes for assessment were being ergonomic, privacy and perceptual preferences. The data for this research were obtained from students' ratings of digital pictures for two hypothetical cafes/restaurants. These spaces were prepared exactly the same. The only differences were that one space was furnished with chairs and the other was furnished with booths. Each dining environment was tested by using bipolar scales. Results indicated that cafes/restaurants furnished with booths were considered to be more ergonomic, private, comfortable and less crowded than the cafes/restaurants furnished with chairs. Furthermore, gender differences in evaluation were also examined. Due to the gender differences, findings showed that female subjects perceived cafes/restaurants furnished with booths more positively than male subjects. Additionally, their preferences for seating locations in cafes/restaurants were also different.2017-01-01T00:00:00ZEffect of wall colour on the perception of classrooms

Abstract: The objective of this research was to assess the effects of three different colours on the interior wall surfaces of classrooms on the perceptual performance of male students, taking into account of their class distinctions. A semantic differential scale composed of 11 bipolar adjectives was applied in order for students of the Incirli Vocational High School, Ankara, Turkey, to evaluate photographs of classrooms with cream, blue and pink wall surfaces. According to the results, spaces with blue walls were perceived to be more positively compared to cream or pink coloured spaces. In addition, it was determined that 9th grade students perceived the spaces more positively compared to 10th, 11th and 12th grade students at level p<0.05. The results of the study clearly indicate that the use of different colours in interior spaces of a classroom has a statistically significant effect on the perceptual performance of the male students.2015-01-01T00:00:00Z"Exploratory" and "descriptive" aspects of environmental psychology course within the interior design education

Title: "Exploratory" and "descriptive" aspects of environmental psychology course within the interior design education
Authors: Yalçın, Meryem
Abstract: Identifying human attachment to the environment by developing different degrees, spatial ranges and dimensions, this study aims to further the growing body of knowledge about the discipline of Environmental Psychology within the process of interior design solving problems. Environmental Psychology provides an analytic point of view up on the existing built environment with a rich and diverse set of quantitative indicators for characterizing spaces in many ways that are potentially relevant to a variety of psychological responses, including choosing routes while locomotion, orientation and disorientation, spatial knowledge acquisition, perceived spaciousness, privacy and social interaction, stress and fear, and aesthetic judgments (Kolb, 1984). Experimental Learning Theory defines learning as "the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience". This study makes the emphasis on "exploratory" and "descriptive" aspects of the Environmental Psychology within the real life context, providing comprehensive information to be inferred and issued in a complementary manner in interior design education. In such a way that; viable physical environment, social organization and norms, characteristics of people objectives are to determinants empirically whether, and how the use of experience and practices can improve design problem-solving by both novice and expert designers. In this context, this study presents applied samples and outcomes of course works of case-based instruction and its description development to be applied as medium synthesizing and/or assimilating with various observations for new idea generation process of design.
