dc.description.abstractSliding mode control, also called variable structure control, has been elaborated in this work. After adopting the reaching law approach, it is shown how integer order fractional variable structure control (FVSC) is achieved and the results are extended to the case of fractional order plants. Few examples are shown and relevant stability issues are discussed.en_US
