Abstract: Bu çalışmada 1980-2015 yılları arasında kullanılan savaş kavramlarının popülerliğinde yaşanan değişimler sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın bir sonraki kısmında International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research, International Security, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Strategic Studies ve International Organization dergilerinin 1980-2015 yılları arasında yayınlanan sayıları incelenmiştir. Bunun ardından Carl von Clausewitz'in yıllara göre aldığı atıf oranlarının belirlenmesi için 'scopus'tan faydalanılmıştır. Elde edilen somut veriler ışığında 1990'lardan itibaren popüler olmaya başlayan kavramların belirli zaman aralıklarında etkili olduğu, fakat bu etkilerin bir süreklilik arz etmediği sonucuna varılmıştır.
This study presents changes in the popularity of war concepts used between 1980 and 2015. This is the research question in this study: "Why are different concepts of war used during and after the Cold War period, even though the war is the same as the essence of war?" In order to find an answer to this question, the question of why the concepts are generally changing in the International Relations literature is emphasized. Later, a large literature study was carried out in order to explain the concept of 'traditional war' and 'modern war'. In the next part of the study, a magazine survey was conducted to show the popularity of war concepts, and information from the 'Google scholar' and 'scopus' databases was examined. In order to show the popularity of the concepts of war in this context, citation rates of the new war, fourth generation warfare, compound war, insurgency/ counterinsurgency and hybrid war are presented in the light of the information obtained from google scholar. In the next part of the study, the issues of International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research, International Security, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Strategic Studies and International Organization have been examined. The resultant tangible data is that the concepts that have become popular since the 1990s in the light have been effective at certain time intervals, but that these effects do not have a continuity. In the next section, the citation rates of Carl von Clausewitz, who has an important place in the war literature, has shown according to scopus. At the end of this study, ideas that changed according to time and place came to the conclusion that the concept of traditional war kept its validity despite the emergence of new concepts.
