Abstract: In this paper, the relationship between network lifetime and delay from source node to sink is analyzed for Wireless Sensor Networks. To examine the effect of delay on lifetime, different delay restrictions are applied to the same sensor network. Number of sensor nodes is increased gradually to study networks of different density. When delay restriction is relaxed, increase in lifetime is observed. In this case, the lifetime of dense networks increases more compared to sparse networks. Likewise, for a particular delay restriction limit, increasing the number of nodes results in a lifetime increase. Lifetime Increase Percentages are examined for detailed behavior of different restrictions. © 2022 IEEE.
