Abstract: Geçmişten günümüze Balkanlar, tarihi, coğrafyası ve insanıyla Türk edebiyatının önemli mevzularından olagelmiştir.
From past to present, Balkans, with its history, geography and people, has been one of the important topics of Turkish literature. Rumelia has a rich world of meaning and imagery in both classical and modern Turkish literature. A significant part of this frame is composed of works centered on the Danube. The Danube, which crosses the Balkans throughout, is one of the first things that come to mind when it comes to Rumelia, both because of this physical feature and because of its historical importance. The 1930s, after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, are important in that the Balkans are on the agenda again. In this respect, among the poems written in the Danube center, those belonging to the years between 1930 and 1939 are the subject. In this period, it is seen that the Danube-centered poems were written by Halide Nusret Zorlutuna, Uluğ Turanlıoğlu, Tunalı Nazif, Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca, Behçet Kemal Çağlar, İhsan Boran, Hasan Ali Yücel, Osman Attilâ and Kemalettin Kamu. In the article, these poems are analyzed in terms of meaning and image worlds, and their common image usage is pointed out. Since it is a period between two wars, it is seen that the poems were written in the style of addressing a long-distance lover rather than excited feelings about war. The feeling that stands out in poems is longing. This feeling of longing has been achieved through other rivers that remind us of the Danube, sometimes by mentioning history. In the analysis of the poems, attention has been drawn to various imaginary uses of the Danube, but it has been observed that the Danube itself has an image value that evokes all the Balkans and everything related to that region in social memory.
